Flock/ALPR Policy

BACKGROUND: Technology that can read license plates and catalogue which tags have passed that spot has been deployed in and around Oviedo and many places throughout the State of Florida. Proponents of this technology say it is a police force multiplier, because it is like having a police officer at every location writing down all the tag numbers. Opponents say it is not OK to conduct this data on 100% of people who pass a location just in case one of them might commit a crime. There are 67 counties and over 400 cities in Florida, each which, at this time, is able to decide whether to intall ALPRs.

QUESTION: Would you like to see Flock cameras banned by the State of Florida?

LOCAL INFO: The City of Oviedo is planning to have a meeting to discuss ALPRs on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall (400 Alexandria Blvd., Oviedo, FL 32765)
